Roedean pupils will sign a Climate Justice Statement this week, drawn up by SA NGOs and Youth, and one of our pupils will finalise drafting the Youth Climate Action Statement, which she was drafting wiht 4 other SA youth, for a national Youth Climate Action statement. 

We explained the importance of growing plants to our students. They grew their own plants at home in waste material.

Towards the end of December, 1 to 2 mild (6 to 10 সেল C) or moderate (7 to 8 সেল C) cold spells will prevail in the north, northeast and central parts of the country. The Meteorological Department said this in its long-term forecast for December on Wednesday. According to the forecast, 1 to 2 depressions are likely to occur in the Bay of Bengal this month, one of which could turn into a cyclone. However, it will not come to the coast of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, cyclones were also forecast in the Bay of Bengal last October and November. Although it turned into a deep depression in October, it did not turn into a cyclone. Although it turned into a cyclone in November, it did not affect Bangladesh. Not only that, but the long-term forecast for most of the current year was a cyclone forecast. The long-term forecast for December further states that the country may receive normal rainfall this month. Day and night temperatures may gradually decrease. However, the average temperature may remain normal. Light to moderate fog may fall in the river basins of the country from dawn to dusk. Normal conditions can prevail in rivers. During this month, the average daily sunshine in the country may be 4 to 5 hours.

This week, students had a virtual exchange along with discussing about the effects of climate change. They also discussed how they can reduce their carbon footprint and the actions they can take to combat climate change.

During Week 3 CAP(Climate action project) our students interacted with students from another school. They discussed the local and global impact of climate change. Students shared and discussed the steps that they are taking to reduce pollution, reduce use of plastics, spreading awareness about planting trees etc.

The students of Grade 2B researched about and reflected on the causes of climate change and came up with interesting reflections on the same in the form of videos and posters.

 Students will make cutouts of palm and will write effects of climate change at local level and global level. They will give oral presentation for the same and will also upload their activities and video on padlet.

My kids have done the research and had an interaction with the kids of the school and jotted the causes and effects globally.

Humans are increasingly influencing the climate and the earth's temperature by burning fossil fuels, cutting down rainforests and farming livestock. This adds enormous amounts of greenhouse gases to those naturally occurring in the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect, a natural process by which the atmosphere retains some of the Sun’s heat, allowing the Earth to maintain the necessary conditions to host life. Without the greenhouse effect, the average temperature of the planet would be -18ºC.

Carbon dioxide, Methane, Nitrogen oxide, HCFCs: caused mainly by the burning of fossil fuels in electricity generation, transport, heating, industry and construction. Also caused by livestock, agriculture (mainly rice farming), wastewater treatment and landfills among others.

The oceans are also carbon sinks, absorbing up to 50 % of CO2 The problem is that, when they reach their limit, the ocean acidifies and causes death and disease among marine flora and fauna.

Human population is growing exponentially. Today, barely 250 years later, we are more than 7.7 billion and will continue growing until 2050 by at least another 2 billion. An increasingly numerous population needs more and more resources, which speeds up the increase in greenhouse gas emissions from all production processes.

Deforestation is one of the most important causes of climate change. The forests and rainforests are disappearing at breakneck speed. In the past 10 years, they have destroyed no less than 13 million hectares.

Bringing in awareness in society about climate change is very important. Students of Class 5 of Navrachana School, Sama, Vadodara, India have prepared sketches and paintings to promote awareness about saving environment.

Students of class 5 from DAV Public School participated in week three of Climate Action Project enthusiastically and created beautiful cutouts of impression of their palms and wrote one local and one global effect on them... they also explained theseeffects and made their videos.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science has stated, “The scientific evidence is clear: global climate change caused by human activities is occurring now, and it is a growing threat to society.” [2]

Below are a few of the ways humans are accelerating climate change.

Greenhouse Gases

Greenhouse gases play a vital role in the earth’s climate cycles. As the planet gets hit with the sun’s rays, some of the energy is absorbed, and the rest of that energy and heat gets reflected into space. Greenhouse gases in the atmosphere trap the reflected energy, redirecting it back down to the earth and eventually contributing to global warming. Various gases play this role, including:[3]

• Water vapor
• Carbon dioxide (CO2)
• Methane
• Nitrous oxide
• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

While some of these greenhouse gases, such as water vapor, are naturally occurring, others, such as CFCs, are synthetic. CO2 is released into the atmosphere from both natural and human-made causes and is one of the leading contributors to climate change. CO2 has been increasing at an alarming rate and has the potential to stay in the earth’s atmosphere for thousands of years unless it gets absorbed by the ocean, land, trees, and other sources. [4] However, as CO2 production has steadily risen, the earth’s natural resources to absorb it has also been diminished. This is already occurring in many ways as eath’s resources are disappearing from things like deforestation. Some studies even predict that plants and soil will be able to absorb less CO2 as the eath continues to warm—possibly accelerating climate change even further. [5]

Solar Activity

Solar activity, as mentioned above, does play a role in the earth’s climate. While the sun does go through natural cycles, increasing and decreasing the amount of energy that it emits to the earth, it is unlikely that solar activity is a major contributor to global warming or climate change. Since scientists began to measure the sun’s energy hitting our atmosphere, there has not been a measurable upward trend.[6]

Agriculture

There are many significant ways in which agriculture impacts climate change. From deforestation in places like the Amazon to the transportation and livestock that it takes to support agricultural efforts around the world, agriculture is responsible for a significant portion of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. However, agriculture is also an area that is making tremendous strides to become more sustainable. As productivity increases, less carbon is being emitted to produce more food. Agriculture also has the potential to act as a carbon sink, and could eventually absorb nearly the same amount of CO2 it emits. [7]

Deforestation

Deforestation and climate change often go hand in hand. Not only does climate change increase deforestation by way of wildfires and other extreme weather, but deforestation is also a major contributor to global warming. According to the Earth Day Network, deforestation is the second leading contributor to global greenhouse gasses. [8] Many people and organizations fighting against climate change point to reducing deforestation as one of, if not the most, important issues that must be addressed to slow or prevent climate change. [9]

Human Activity

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the most significant contributor to climate change in the United States is the burning of fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation. Of these factors, transportation in the form of cars, trucks, ships, trains, and planes emits the largest percentage of CO2–speeding up global warming and remaining a significant cause of climate change. [10]

Livestock

While interconnected to many of the agricultural and deforestation issues we have already touched on, livestock in the form of cattle, sheep, pigs, and poultry play a significant role in climate change. According to one study, “Livestock and Climate Change,” livestock around the world is responsible for 51% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions.

What are the causes and effects of climate change on our planet?

Climate change causes-

1. Deforestation- Cutting of trees result in more carbon dioxide and less oxygen, both of which adversely affect climate.
2. Poaching of wild animals - Results in ecological imbalance.
3. Increased carbon emission – Too many vehicles and industries emit greenhouse gases resulting in climate changes.

Climate change effects-

1. Global Warming- Excessive greenhouse gases result in temperature rise.
2. Lower produces from farming- Changing Rain pattern negatively affects crop production.
3. Health issues- Warmer temperatures help in spreading of some diseases like dengue, malaria etc.
4. Sea levels rising- Melting of glacier due to global warming will increase sea levels. Rise in water level has following impacts: Land erosion, flood risk, loss in agriculture/aquaculture.

Students watched  videos related to  global climatic change.Thay discussed about the pros and cons of technology. 

Increasing temperatures caused by climate change will make the water of the oceans expand; ice melting in the Antarctic and Greenland will also contribute to the sea level. Sea levels could rise by as much as 25 to 50 cm, by 2100. Greater sea levels will threaten the low-lying coastal areas such as the Netherlands and Bangladesh, millions of areas of land will be at danger from flooding; causing people to leave their homes. Low lying areas in cities will be hugely affected by the rising sea.

Changes in weather will affect many crops grown around world. Crops such as wheat and rice grow well in high temperatures, while plants such as maize and sugarcane prefer cooler climates. Changes in rainfall patterns will also affect how well plants and crops grow. The effect of a change in the weather on plant growth may lead to some countries not having enough food.

Week 3 was about interacting with various institutes from various countries/continents who had taken up the Climate Action Project. We interacted with the following schools:

Students from Navrachana School Sama had huge takeaways from these enlightening sessions where they learnt more about the climate changes taking place in different countries from across the world and the initiatives taken by their governments. These interaction sessions also gave us a platform to explain our initiative of "Upskill to Upcycle".

My students of grade 5 have pledged to plant seeds,saplings and take care of plaants as they take care of us.They are discussing global warming,climate change ,its effects locally and globally and they are haeager to do their bit in reducing the green house gases in our atmosphere.

Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. Landfills collect garbage and other land pollution in a central location. Many places are running out of space for landfills.

Students discussed and researched to come up with some real life examples of cause and effect of Climate Change.

Students had an interaction with students of a school in Belgium to understand how climate change is impacting them. 

The third week of Climate Action project began with a great enthusiasm. The students were guided and explained about the global impacts of Climate change through PPT, videos etc. There was a virtual collaboration with Colegio Positivo (School), Brazil. It provided a platform for students in both the countries to exchange their ideas, findings about the climate change with each other. In this way, they enhanced their knowledge about the issues of the climate change being felt all over the world.

Week three went very productive. Students watched the videos made by other schools, had the collaborative meetings, shared their experiences, done the tasks given for week three. They also discussed possible solutions. It was a great learning experience for all of us.

We managed to have two virtual interactions, one with UAE school and other with a Portugal school. Our students shared their experiences and practices. Attached as the evidence

During week 3 of Climate action project:

1. We collaborated with "Middenschool Kindsheid Jesu" in Hasselt, Belgium and learnt about their local efeects of climate change. Also we exchanged our ideas, to go from local to global.

Students explored new softwares for different things.

1. They created animated videos through "Toontastic" application. They potrayed future impact of climate change.
2. They used websites like "canva.com" for making beautiful E-magazines. Through these E-magazines, students co-related the causes and effect of climate change.
3. They also made cartoon-strips to showcase the effects of climate change.

As a part of week three activity of climate action project, Upper kindergarten students from DAV Sector 49 collaborated with the students of “Ion Luca Caragiale National College from Ploiești, Prahova county, Romania” and “Colégio Positivo - Santa Maria Londrina, Paraná, Brazil”.

Students enjoyed and had great learning having an online collaboration session with the schools from different regions across the globe. It was indeed a great enriching session for all. It inculcated awareness about the effect of climate change across the globe and the efforts by the people in those regions.

The students planted saplings at home and took pledge to take care of it to make a difference. They created some creative posters etc. to spread awareness.

It was a highly interactive yet informative session where our school students presented their viewpoints and suggestions on what are the causes and effects of climate change (both locally and globally). The interaction was further followed by Q/A session round where the students from both the countries exchanged ideas on what their respective country, government and they themselves as individual citizens are doing to prevent pollution and reduce the climate change.

      There is a drastic change in the weather patterns caused by global warming, melting of snow.flooding of rivers and lakes, coastal erosion, sea-level rise and extreme natural phenomenon. The Arctic is expected to become ice-free before mid-century. The warming seas and oceans will evaporate more water into the atmosphere and create bigger storm fronts, which will have bigger downpours than we are used to. Let us take some steps to save 'Our Earth' from the devastation of climate change.

We at Millennium World School, Faridabad believe that a lot of problems in the world can be solved if we talk to each other. As a part of Week 3 of Climate Action Project, a special session was arranged for Grade V, VI and VII in collaboration with Istituto Comprensivo Don Milani Carbonia School from Italy, Europe and Ramagya School, Dadri. It was a fun filled, interactive highly enriching session during which all the participants presented their views on the issue of climate change. The students also indulged in a constructive Question/Answer round where they shared their insight and research. They students exchanged about the climate change in their respective countries and the suggested prospective solutions discussed about the causes and effects of climate change in their respective  countries as well as the world, and pledged to be part of the solution to climate change .
 The participants were highly enthusiastic throughout the session. This session proved Virtual interaction with people can be as good as interacting face to face. We all believe in the thoughts of Helen Keller where she specified  “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" with these views MWS Faridabad has taken up a step ahead to join the Global Community working towards the social issue of Climate Change.

"We are all in this Earth together", so we planned to collaborate with Romania and Brazil on this project. We shared and discussed on each others learnings, like we discussed about one of climate change impact that happened at a place called Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary in India. In past years the place used to be a famous tourist desitination, several species of birds migrated from several countries. Now, number of migratory brid species reduced to 54 as the climate changed had sevre impact on the survival of them. Childrens from Romania shared nice other activities with us too.

The Climate Action Project was launched in 2017 aiming to connect students globally and allow them to discuss, create, and share findings and solutions online. As participants in the project, teachers and students can exchange experiences and local insights, making learning global and authentic. Our main goal is to nurture global citizens who have a deep and nuanced understanding of the world in which they live, and who are willing to take action for a better world. 

Climate action: Local to global was the topic for the Week 3. 

Selected Students and teachers from The Oxford school,Trivandrum had a collaboration session with the teachers and students of DPS International, Gurgaon on 16-10-2020 from 1 pm to 2 pm on Zoom. Siddeeque Jubair of grade 9 prepared a video on the topic Australian forest fire and its impacts and presented it during the session and Krithik Gopinath of grade 3 presented his PPT on the topic Biodiversity in Mangrove land forms. Both the presentations gained appreciations from every participants in the session.

Our Vice principal and UN SDG ambassador, Mr. Ian Smith, joined us for virtual exchange all the way from Genevia. Students were thrilled to know how their voices are being heard and noticed by schools and prominant personalities all around the world. Our children also watched videos that children from Brazil and Ukraine uploaded. 

Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields, health impacts in cities due to heat, and flooding and erosion in coastal areas are additional concerns. Increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have increased wildfires.

Overall, all the sessions were very fruitful. Students discussed about the causes, effects and possible solutions for Climate Change. They even discussed about the possible actions that can be taken for bringing a change. They got an international platform to put forth their views. We could see the spark to make a difference. Common motive, goal or objective compel people from different faith and belief to come together and lead a campaign to make people aware and revolutionize their thoughts and actions. Fostering the above cause,  Sanjivani International School connected with schools from different topography  face to face virtually to connect  and share ideas, exchange opinions and investigate various initiatives to take necessary actions and address the effects of climate change.

Schools with which SIS connected are

Croatia (Primary School) – Grade 2 and 3 students from both the countries shared their views on climate change.

Brazil (Colegio Positivo Jardim Ambiental) – Grade 5 students from both the countries shared their actions on climate change.

Delhi (Delhi Public School, Gurugram)  - Grade 8 students from both the states discussed more about the steps that can be taken to reduce the pollution.

All the above points were discussed in class with Std VII students. The students researched the topics ad prepared presentations and videos on the same.

How water gets polluted because of Domestic and chemical waste

Our students have interacted with many schools across the globe and also they have shared the discussion with local schools as well. They conducted surveys with them and analysed them. 

We played quizzes and had a very fruitful discussion. 

This week we had a lot of fun interacting with other schools. We interacted with 5 schools, 1 from our country and 4 from abroad (Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Moldova). We learned a lot of new things that people are doing on a local scale to work against climate change.

The students have presented the topic by using charts, animated pictiures and interactive session.

By the end  Week 3, students watched the videos of other countries, researched the causes and effects of climate change on our environment.

Climate change causes and effects globally

In South Asia:

*The effects of climate change on South Asia include steady sea level rise, increased cyclonic activity, and changes in ambient temperature and precipitation patterns. Increased landslides and flooding are projected to have an impact on states such as Assam. 

*Ongoing sea level rises have already submerged several low-lying islands in the Sundarbans.

*displacing thousands of people. The first among the countries to be affected by severe climate change is Bangladesh.

* sea level, temperature, and evaporation are increasing, and the changes in precipitation and cross-boundary river flows are already beginning to cause drainage congestion.

*There is a reduction in freshwater availability, disturbance of morphological processes, and a higher intensity of flooding.

*Regarding local temperature rises, the IPCC figure projected for the mean annual increase in temperature by the end of the century in South Asia is 3.3 °C with the min-max range as 2.7 – 4.7 °C. The mean value for Tibet would be higher with mean increase of 3.8 °C and min-max figures of 2.6 and 6.1 °C respectively which implies harsher warming conditions for the Himalayan watersheds. India's GDP could decline by up to 9%, due to shifting growing seasons for major crops such as rice, production of which could fall by 40%. Around seven million people are projected to be displaced due to, among other factors, submersion of parts of Mumbai and Chennai, if global temperatures were to rise by a mere 2 °C (3.6 °F)

Effects of climate change on human health:

Ty*The human body requires evaporative cooling to prevent overheating, even with a low activity level. With excessive ambient heat and humidity, adequate evaporative cooling does not take place. Human thermoregulatory capacity is exceeded.

*Human response to heat stress can be hyperthermia, heat stroke and other harmful effects. Heat illness can relate to many of the organs and systems including: brain, heart, kidneys, liver, etc.

Impact on natural resources

Drinking water

*Global Health Corps reports that when interruptions in the regular water supply, "forces rural and impoverished families to resort to drinking the dirty, sediment-and-parasite-laden water that sits in puddles and small pools on the surface of the earth.

*When there is an adequate amount of drinking water, humans drink from different sources than their livestock. However, when drought occurs and drinking water slowly disappears, catchment areas such as streams and depressions in the ground where water gathers are often shared between people and the livestock they depend on for financial and nutritional support, and this is when humans can fall seriously ill. *Although some diseases that are transferred to humans can be prevented by boiling the water, many people, living on just a litre or two of water per day, refuse to boil, as it loses a certain percentage of the water to steam.

Fresh water

*As the climate warms, it changes the nature of global rainfall, evaporation, snow, stream flow and other factors that affect water supply and quality. Freshwater resources are highly sensitive to variations in weather and climate. Climate change is projected to affect water availability. In areas where the amount of water in rivers and streams depends on snow melting, warmer temperatures increase the fraction of precipitation falling as rain rather than as snow, causing the annual spring peak in water runoff to occur earlier in the year. This can lead to an increased likelihood of winter flooding and reduced late summer river flows. Rising sea levels cause saltwater to enter into fresh underground water and freshwater streams. This reduces the amount of freshwater available for drinking and farming. Warmer water temperatures also affect water quality and accelerate water pollution.

Impact on Nutrition

*Another area of concern is the effect of climate change on the nutritional content of food for human consumption. Studies show that increasing atmospheric levels of CO2 have an unfavourable effect on the nutrients in plants. As the carbon concentration in the plant's tissues increase, there is a corresponding decrease in the concentration of elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, zinc and iodine. Of significant concern is the protein content of plants, which also decreases in relation to elevating carbon content.

*IrakliLoladze explains that the lack of essential nutrients in crops contributes the problem of micronutrient malnutrition in society, commonly known as “hidden hunger”; despite adequate caloric intake, the body still is not nutritionally satisfied and therefore continues to be “hungry”. This problem is aggravated by the rising cost of food, resulting in a global shift towards diets which are less expensive, but high in calories, fats, and animal products. This results in undernutrition and an increase in obesity and diet-related chronic diseases.

*Countries worldwide are already impacted by deficiencies in micronutrients and are seeing the effects in the health of their populations. Iron deficiency affects more than 3.5 billion people; increasing maternal mortality and hindering cognitive development in children, leading to education losses. Iodine deficiency leads to ailments like goitre, brain damage and cretinism and is a problem in at least 130 different countries. Even though these deficiencies are invisible, they have great potential to impact human health on a global scale.

*Small increases in CO2 levels can cause a CO2 fertilization effect where the growth and reproduction abilities of C3 plants such as soybeans and rice are actually enhanced by 10-20% in laboratory experiments. This does not take into account, however, the additional burden of pests, pathogens, nutrients and water affecting the crop yield.

Lack of growth in AgricultureUSA:

*Climate change and related global concerns dominate the current environmental agenda, as evidenced by the recent wave of articles, symposia, workshops, and other scientific and lay forums dealing with this issue. While most atmospheric scientists agree that a climate change" signal" has yet to be detected, concern over potential climate change arising from increasing concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CHF), chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and other" greenhouse" gases is motivating substantial funding increases for such research. Climate change is thus likely to be a major research and policy issue well into the next decade. Scientific interest in climate change is not a recent phenomenon; research on the relation-ship between CO2, climate.

*forecasts of climate change from general circulation models (GCMs) indicate that a doubling of atmospheric CO2 will increase global average temperature from 1.5 to 4.5 degrees celsius (? C), as well as alter precipitation amounts and frequency.

*consequences of long-term climate change on U.S. agriculture. Changes in crop yields, crop water demand and irrigation water arising from climate change result in changes in economic welfare.

*Inclusion of changes in world food production and associated export changes generally have a positive affect on U.S. agriculture. As with previous studies, the magnitude of economic effects estimated here are a small percentage of U.S. agricultural value.

ammonia emissions in Europe

*At present here a dynamical method for modelling temporal and geographical variations in ammonia emissions in regional-scale chemistry transport models (CTMs) and chemistry climate models (CCMs). The method is based on the meteorology in the models and gridded inventories.

*We use the dynamical method to investigate the spatiotemporal variability of ammonia emissions across part of Europe and study how these emissions are related to geographical and year-to-year variations in atmospheric temperature alone. For simplicity we focus on the emission from a storage facility related to a standard Danish pig stable with 1000 animals and display how emissions from this source would vary geographically throughout central and northern Europe and from year to year. In view of future climate changes, we also evaluate the potential future changes in emission by including temperature projections from an ensemble of climate models.

*The results point towards four overall issues. (1) Emissions can easily vary by 20% for different geographical locations within a country due to overall variations in climate. The largest uncertainties are seen for large countries such as the UK, Germany and France.

Students of Genesis Global school, Noida and Aga Khan Academy , Hyderabad collaborated to exchange their thoughts and ideas about climate change.

A virtual collaborative meeting on 'Climate Action Project 2020" was held on 19.10.20 among Ahlcon International School and Z. P High School., in which Students of all schools participated very enthusiastically. 

Students shared their views and thoughts on topic 'Local to Global" through ppt, video etc.  Teachers of all the schools shared certain platforms with kids like Padelet, Buncee , Quizziz etc. All the students did the task in very well planned way. They prioritized and assigned the project among the team members, and complete it in very effective way. They also enjoyed playing quiz on Quizziz . It was a nice experience and learning for kids.

Students inquired about the local and global effects of climate change. They collaborated with the Grade 5 students of Aga Khan Academy,Hyderabad and had an interactive session. They created a padlet and each one of them reflected on the actions taken.

Projects have made this week's event as Pakistan, Azerbaijan and brainstorm solutions on a lot of talk about the school webinar perform climate change in Turkey. It is an extremely productive webinar for students, with the acquisitions of meeting different cultures and providing solutions to our global climate problem.

Students researched the causes and effects of climate change locally and globally.

Then, we had an online meeting with a school in Romania. Students discussed the causes and effects of climate change in Turkey and Romania. As a conclusion, the change in seasons and climate is a common effect while air pollutants as a cause is common also.

We observed that some pollution was not water, even if we tried to pollute the water polluting substances and especially clean them. We imagined a polluted sea. we cleared the sea. but we couldn't clean the oil somehow. That's why we talked about the need to be careful about not mixing oil wastes with water.

We thought of what we could do for the global warming problem as a class, and we set a slogan: `` I change, the world changes. '' We shot a video and published it on social media platforms such as youtube.

We contacted with Richard Hainsworth teacher of Brigidine College from Sydney-Australia.By matching the schools, we sent videos to get to know each other better and presented our work on climate action.

We arranged 2 virtual online meetings on Zoom web2.0 tool.We came together with Romanian students from Colegiul National ''Simion Barnutiu Salaj,Romania and Ankara Keçiören Social Sciences High School' students from Turkey at 11 a.m on 15th October 2020 and firstly we met,introduced ourselves,our school,city,country.Then we talked about Global effects of Climate Change.

We arranged a virtual online meetings on Zoom web 2.0 tool.We came together with Romanian students from ''Henri Coanda'' Secondary School from Bacau,Romania and Ankara Keçiören Social Sciences High School' students from Turkey at 11 a.m.on 16 th October 2020 .We met ourselves,our city and talked about global effects of Climate Change.We made presentations and our students played a game on kahoot collaboratively.

Students are able to explain amazing facts of climate change, why human activities are the cause of climate emergency, and temperature of earth effected by the circumstances.

I am currently a homeroom teacher for primary, mainly for Grade 1A. The age group I worked with for this project is about 5 - 7 years old. I blended the learning in my Environmental Studies Lessons PowerPoint presentations. In my lessons, I have implemented thinking routes within my PPTs so that my students can develop their thinking process on Climate Change.

Teaching Methodology: Last Saturday, I have created the weekly activity and information on Flipgrid for my students and then asked them to upload their understanding by the end of the week in two seperate Flipgrids, Flipgrid 1 and Flipgid 2. Other than the Lesson PowerPoint Presentations, I have helped them to develop a Pictionary about their responsibilities for the earth as their home. This week, we are not participating in networking with classes on all continents. Because in Vietnam we are going through extremely painful days. Floods, landslides, storms ... are devastating us. Risks of pollution.

The environmental effects of climate change are broad and far-reaching, effecting oceans, ice, and weather. Changes may occur gradually or rapidly. Evidence for these effects comes from studying climate change in the past, from modelling, and from modern observations.[131] Since the 1950s, droughtsand heat waves have appeared simultaneously with increasing frequency.[132] Extremely wet or dry events within the monsoon period have increased in India and East Asia.[133] Various mechanisms have been identified that might explain extreme weatherin mid-latitudes from the rapidly warming Arctic, such as the jet stream becoming more erratic.[134]The maximum rainfall and wind speed from hurricanes and typhoons is likely increasing.[135]

Climate change has led to decades of shrinking and thinning of the Arctic sea ice, making it vulnerable to atmospheric anomalies.[136] Projections of declines in Arctic sea ice vary.[137] While ice-free summers are expected to be rare at 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) degrees of warming, they are set to occur once every three to ten years at a warming level of 2.0 °C (3.6 °F),[138]increasing ice–albedo feedback.[139]

Global sea level is rising as a consequence of glacial melt, melt of the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica, and thermal expansion. Between 1993 and 2017, the rise increased over time, averaging 3.1 ± 0.3 mm per year.[140] Over the 21st century, the IPCC projects that in a very high emissions scenario the sea level could rise by 61–110 cm.[141] Increased ocean warmth is undermining and threatening to unplug Antarctic glacier outlets, risking a large melt of the ice sheet[142] and the possibility of a 2-meter sea level rise by 2100 under high emissions.[143]

 It is hard for plants to grow in the Arctic. Once the snow melts the growing season is short. Even in the summer it is cold and windy and there are just a few months of sunshine. There are many flowering plants like purple saxifrage, mountain avens, wild crocus, arctic poppies, buttercups, cinquefoil, moss campion, campanulas, arctic azaleas and arctic lupine Other plants that grow there are mosses, grasses, herbs, lichens and small shrubs like the dwarf willow and arctic willow

Talking about climate change with a school from India.

We talked to a very motivated class in Moldova and agreed upon a challenge. The next fortnight both classes will come to school by bike or on foot and add the kilometres. The class with most kilometres wins the challenge, but in fact they will both win since both classes will reduce CO² emission by coming to school in an eco friendly way.

Eco- club- Primary school Retfala found some eco challanges in ther local enviroment.  We found out thet there are many infrastructure challanges in our neighborhood. One is so special, building area of new stadium, thet members of eco- club go there and found many challanges and effects that this construction has on nature and biodiversity. This action is a result of Maja Holoker and Vlatka Šalić Dujmić workinfg process with pupilf from 8. grade.

There is a lot of research concerning climate change and global warming. The world is already 1°C hotter than it was in the pre-industrial era. And while there is no question that limiting warming to 1.5°C will be difficult, there’s also no question that we have the technology needed to do it—and that it’s worth it. In 2015, 196 countries signed on to a single, sweeping plan that aims to keep the global warming process below 2 degree Celsius as long as it is possible. The Paris agreement builds on decades of gradual work by the international community to combat climate change and adapt to its impacts. But climate change is not a problem that governments can solve alone; we need collaboration across regional governments, businesses, and communities as well.

Here arises a question, how do scientists understand the future climate? Well, they do it by using a climate model. A climate model is a simulation of all the factors that can affect Earth’s climate. A simulation is a way for us to understand something that would be difficult to experience in real life. Climate models scientists to study how different factors interact to influence a region’s climate. Some of these factors are things that don’t change, such as a region’s distance from the shore, elevation, and latitude. Some of the factors are things that do change, such as the seasons, big volcanic eruptions, air pollution, or—over millions of years—the shifts in the continents. NASA’s Earth-observing satellites collect a lot of information about our planet and its atmosphere. Using all of this information, scientists understand how changes in our planet or atmosphere have affected climate over time.

So now that we know how climate is predicted, what will the effects of climate change be if we don't take action, and what are the stakes? Because of human-induced warming, the temperature will continue to rise, which will cause sea levels to rise, seasons’ duration to change, and so on. The length of the frost-free season (and the corresponding growing season) has been increasing nationally since the 1980s affecting ecosystems and agriculture. Across the globe, the growing season is projected to continue to lengthen. The increases will be considerably smaller if heat-trapping gas emissions are reduced.

since 1900, some areas have had increases greater than the national average, and some areas have had decreases. For example, more winter and spring precipitation is projected for the temperate climate zones, and less for the tropical zones. Summer temperatures are rising, and a reduction of soil moisture, in summer. By the end of this century, what have been once-in-20-year extreme heat days (one-day events) are projected to occur every two or three years over most of the world. The intensity, frequency, and duration of North Atlantic hurricanes, as well as the frequency of the strongest (Category 4 and 5) hurricanes, have increased since the early 1980s. It is still uncertain relative contributions of human and natural causes to this problem. Global sea levels are predicted to rise another 2.4 meters by 2100. This is the result of added water from melting ice.

In the next several decades, storm surges and high tides could combine with sea-level rise, which will cause floodings in many regions. Ocean waters will therefore continue to warm and sea level will continue to rise for many centuries at rates equal to or higher than those of the current century. The Arctic Ocean is expected to become essentially ice-free in summer before mid-century. Changes in water temperature cause algae to leave coral reefs, turning them white and making them vulnerable to diseases and causing their death. This temperature change will also affect the Arctic sea. But the Arctic is warming faster than anywhere else on Earth and ice-free summers could become a reality. Plants and animals at risk of losing more than half of their habitats. As the earth continues to warm. This puts a variety of species at risk, depending on whether they can adapt or move.

In conclusion, we could say that staying inactive against this huge problem will lead to severe and irreversible consequences. Changing everything from our surrounding ecosystems to interfering with our daily lives. That is why everyone should be aware of their actions’ outcomes and minimize the impacts one causes on the environment.

UN goals

This week we looked beyond Italy and explored the effects of Climate Change around the world. Italy has more of problem with coastal erosion but many other places have problems with more extreme weather like hurricanes and tornados in the USA and tsunamis in southeast Asia. This year there were so many serious fires like in Australia, California and the Amazon. Also in some places in Asia sometimes schools are closed because of pollution. One common global factor is the Coronavirus. My students watched a video message from Jane Goodall, where she indicated COVID is partly caused by animal displacement from climate change. This is definitely a global effect!!

Questions to ask during-class -to-class virtual exchange with our CAP sister -school in India(Intelli Pollocks International School) 

Students first described their cities, with the highlights. They presented what they liked and didn't about their cities. Teachers made a Quizizz about climate action, which students played during the meeting and winners were announced. The questions were directly related to the content of the first 2 weeks of the Climate Action Project.

during week 3 students at IIS Sraffa met mates from other countries and talked about the effects of global warming and climate change in their areas.

Fires are one of the causes of climate change globally. In particular our island, Sardinia, is undergoing a principle of desertification caused by fires.

In the third week of the project, the students wrote a letter to the tree, planting seedlings in their backyards, which made a small contribution to improving climate change.

During the third week, the students tried to contribute to the preservation of the planet. They planted flowers, wrote letters to the tree and their favorite flowers. Also, they made posters and drawings related to the tree.

For the third week of the project, writing activities and planting a plant are given as activities for the students. They also suggested some ideas for What are the causes and effects globally?

Energy efficiency simply means using less energy to perform the same task – that is, eliminating energy waste. Energy efficiency brings a variety of benefits: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reducing demand for energy imports, and lowering our costs on a household and economy-wide level. While renewable energy technologies also help accomplish these objectives, improving energy efficiency is the cheapest – and often the most immediate – way to reduce the use of fossil fuels. There are enormous opportunities for efficiency improvements in every sector of the economy, whether it is buildings, transportation, industry, or energy generation.

Week three has been the most captivating. Children have got acquainted with children and not only identified the solutions of changing for the betterment of our planet, but also for the opportunity to introduce themselves and ask questions about culture and traditions. A stunning experience!

During this meeting the students tried to understand that their coutries meet the same problems related to climate change and together they can be the change.

Environmental problems

The 3rd week that started 12 October 2020, we started with the 4th grade learners to develop some climate ideas. We reflected on causes and effects of climate change, the learners watched a video of Greta Thunberg. They reflected about that. Considering the effects on plants, animals, weather patterns, and human activity you identified in Week 2. Begin to consider specific actions that could help prevent further problems and effects in those four areas. The learners were challenged to debate the following role-play game: Learners were put into two groups.

1. Group 1 were the businessmen and businesswomen

2. Group 2 were citizens of Dream Vill 1st group is planning to build a shoe factory in this area and their task is to present the benefits of that. 2nd group have to face that and bring some disadvantages of that

On Monday we planted the tree.

This week was full of events. We changed our opinion on causes , effects of climate change with our peers from Romania and Italy. We decide to meet again and make a conclusion together about the things we had discussed.
