Thereafter they shared their findings by portraying drawings, narrating incidents told to them by their parents and grandparents, elucidating causes for the disappearance of sparrows, expressing their anguish through self-composed poems and lastly making bird feeders as a small step to rectify the damage.
Climate Action - Week#5, Where have the sparrows gone?
The students researched all about sparrows - their natural habitats, their worldwide & statewise distribution, their lifestyle (feeding habits, nesting, reproduction), the causes of their decline & ways in which we could bring sparrows back into our cities. They consolidated their work into a presentation that was shared on the school portal to raise awarenesss about sparrows.
One of our budding poets wrote a beautiful poem on sparrows.
At the moment the students are working on a short skit & song to present in the school assembly.
The class also built & put up bird feeders on campus to bring back our chidiyas.
A very special Thank You to Koen Timmers for letting us be part of this great project! We are now starting an eTwinning project, called "Litter@sea", as a follow-up activity to this project.
Thanks to all the partners for the amazing work that we've done and for the knowledge and ideas that you've shared with the rest of us! It was a privilege to have taken part of the "Climate Action Project"!
We decided to end our participating on a fun note! Enjoy! :)
The students of Martí Sorolla 2 explain their work to the teacher of the school PMS der PH Wien, Susanna Jilka, who, very kindly, wanted to share from her home in Vienna a part of her vacation days with us. Thank you very much, Susanna!
My kids made a research about the sparrows in Guatemala and found this beautiful legend !
In Guatemala the legend says that sparrows are special birds that bring messages from our dead loved ones who are now in heaven and visit us through them bringing us joy in their song. That is why it is so special to see a sparrow here in Guatemala!
