Climate Action Project Week 2
Week 2
Placed by SIRAJ ANWAR 2019/Nov/26
Description:
- If we do nothing, global temperatures could rise as high as 10 degrees Celsius by the end of the century.
- Fortunately, humanity is hard at work at keeping temperature increases below the 2 degrees Celsius mark.
- These 7 projects are just a snapshot of what humanity is collectively doing to fight back and beat climate change.Group projects
- Group 1 Create a rain garden with native plants to hold water on the ground & allow it to soak in o Reducing runoff reduces flood water and improves water quality
- Group 2 Plant trees, shrubs or native flowers o Trees and other native plants store carbon
- Group 3 Conduct a campaign to educate fellow students or your community about climate change and its effects on Minnesota, the Mississippi River and National Parks – and personal actions that help o Educational campaigns can take many forms – make a video, create posters, design a t-shirt, make a play and perform it at your school, make a PowerPoint presentation for other classes of students to see
- Group 4 Conduct “green studies” such as recording phenology (temperature, bird arrivals, etc.)
- Group 5 Conduct habitat improvement projects in your neighborhood
- Group 6 Prevent polluted runoff: clean up streets that contribute runoff to the river; conduct storm drain stenciling to educate residents that streets flow to rivers.
