My grade 6 students are taking part in Climate Action Global Project. This is six weeks enquiry based project where they will collaborate with other countries. They will share their findings and learn from their peers about the impacts of climate change in other parts of the world. We all are very excited to do this project.I hope we will be able to achieve our goals. In first stage students are doing the research work and gathering information. They prepared the lists of cuases of climate change. They compile their research in the form of PPT.
Grade 6 students from the Pakistan Beaconhouse school system investigated the impacts of climate change. Pakistan was recently flooded, disrupting people's lives and severely impacting the economy. Students made a list on the padlet wall and posters presenting the issues. They also started the campaign by planting more trees to save the Earth and join the global community.
During this week, students in grade six worked together online with students from Brazil and the United Arab Emirates to promote conversation and emphasize the significance of the most pressing climate challenges. Through this cooperation, new knowledge was gained, ideas were freely exchanged, and nations and organizations formed enduring links. This was a great learning experience for my students. They performed enthusiastically and were happy to make new friends. They also pledged that they will work for the betterment of the planet earth.
The students worked at week 4 on solutions for climate change. They researched and explored practicing 3 Rs. They used recycled material and made different items of their choice. They find that recycling is good for the environment; in a sense, they are using old and waste products that are of no use and then converting them back to the same new products. Since we are saving resources and sending less trash to landfills, it helps reduce air and water pollution.
During this week, students learned about the changes they can bring into their own lives to stop climate change. They realize that It is not too late to take action on climate change. Human activity has already added such a large amount of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, the world is now experiencing the early effects of climate change. We need to prepare for and adapt to these changes so that we can protect human health, water and food supplies, our cities and towns, and natural habitats. A new field of work has emerged to reinforce coastlines to shield them from rising oceans, grow new crops to match regions’ changing climates, protect our infrastructure, from wildfires and hurricanes, and plan for shifting supplies of water and food. They made recycling projects and practice 7R's.
Climate Warriors are in week 6 now. It's high time to take action. Our country Pakistan has been constantly ranked among the most affected nations climate change. Our people in various regions of the nation are as of now getting drastically affected by climate change, which include flash floods due to glacier melt, increased heat waves, water scarcity, rising sea levels, food shortages, and displacement of people. The most exceedingly awful part is that these effects are simply going to cause further deterioration of our land. In such a situation, it is mandatory for us to take measures to control climate change. Students wrote letters to government departments to take some action. Our government should undertake urgent programs to improve the situation of the country.
