Our Projects

Catherine McKenna and Climate Change and the Environment

We looked at Women in Science and disussed the impact of single use plastics and whales in particular.  We participated in a Skype call with Catherine McKenna and ME to WE surprise guest Craig Kielburger.  We asked questions about the national and international impact of climate change on all living things in ecosystems.  We discussed large numbers, ocean statistics, and related it to our current Math and Science units.

Women in Science, Oceans, and the Future

We participated in another Skype activity that focused on an all women crew and an expedition to look at ocean health.  The students shared their work relating to plastic bags, whales and the impact on the enviroment.  The class in collaboration with 7J discussed short and long term impacts, created collaborative visual mind maps and diagrams, and discussed what they have learned from the experience.  They make connections between their choices and the impact humands are having on the environment.

Science Sadness

The students have worked on discussing single use plastics and their impact on aquatic freshwater ecosystems around the world.  This is a sample of the powerful presentation they put together
