Climate change describes a change in the average conditions — such as temperature and rainfall — in a region over a long period of time. NASA scientists have observed Earth's surface is warming, and many of the warmest years on record have happened in the past 20 years. In Week 1 my students share their ideas on Flipgrid that which things affected our environment .
CAUSES OF CLIMATE CHANGE -
Causes of climate change
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect, a natural process by which the atmosphere retains some of the Sun's heat, allowing the Earth to maintain the necessary conditions to host life. Without the greenhouse effect, the average temperature of the planet would be -180C.
Climate change destabilises the Earth’s temperature equilibrium and has far-reaching effects on human beings and the environment. During the course of global warming, the energy balance and thus the temperature of the earth change, due to the increased concentration of greenhouse gases, which has a significant impact on humans and the environment.
It is not scientifically possible to assign individual weather events to the current climate change, however, it can be statistically proven that global warming will increase the probability of extreme weather events.
The direct consequences of man-made climate change include-
1.rising maximum temperatures
2.rising minimum temperatures
3.rising sea levels
4. higher ocean temperatures
5.an increase in heavy precipitation (heavy rain and hail)
6.shrinking glaciers
7.thawing permafrost
Eight Simple Things You Can Do to Help Protect the Earth
Improvements to energy efficiency and vehicle fuel economy,
Increases in wind and solar power
Biofuels from organic waste,
Setting a price on carbon, and protecting forests are all potent ways to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide and other gases trapping heat on the planet
In week 5 ,we had a live interaction with pristine school, Dubai. Where our students share their experiences and projects. In that collaboration our students learn more about climate actions.
