My students and planting trees as we look at the effects of Climate Change in our community, town, country, Africa and the world at large.

This session of effect on climate change was done by grouping students in a group of 3 to research on climate change. They took 30 minutes researching while taking note of their findings from the internet. They discuss the points and findings in groups for another 20 minutes and in each group they select the representative to present in class what they research.

Climate change's impact on agriculture, standard of living and health

In our school, there is a large area of the garden that has been looking rather unloved. Plants don't seem to serve there very long and watering is scarce in these hot dry water-saving times. Our Eco club decided to redo this garden with indigenous plants. Nine children ranging from year 4 to 6 got together to make this happen. since the start of this garden, other children have seen what we have been doing and asked to join in. The garden is now finished and inorder for it to grow a little water goes a long way. Children from all grades ask if the plants have been watered. they test the soil to see if it's dry or not and if it is dry. They water the garden early in the morning before school so that the plants have a chance to absorb the water before the hot African sun comes up for the day. 

Within our garden, we have planted many succulents. One of them is endangered to the Western Cape and we are hoping to propagate this plant. The team included 2 proteas as well. 

Children have learnt how to plant a plant correctly and how to prep the soil for planting. We chatted about landscaping and they even made a video afterwards bringing attention to the plants in the new garden. since then we have seen many little creatures making a new home in this garden. As it goes I'm sure it will attract all sorts of animals from the local area.

One of the key initiatives has been “Go Greening” drive in and around school .Students Pledged to plant a tree on their birthdays and take care of it. Further, students also did a waste segregation project. They were also shown videos from various countries to make they aware about the global climatic changes.

Children reflected their understanding on the effects of climate change using the art and craft activity.

Students from Pre-Primary till grade 5 have participated.The little ones thought more frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people's livelihoods and communities. As climate change worsens, dangerous weather events are becoming more frequent or severe.

Students formed a group and collected information on effects of climate change on our state. We had a group discussion on the information that was collected by the students. All the members of our group have started using Earth Project App. Even though we have submitted this video we are still working on different aspects and will be updating our work accordingly.

Week 2 included of 2 main activities - planting and watering the plants.

Children also made presentations on how the climate change is also affecting life under water.

           "Vanmohotsav" is celebrated as a week long tree planting festival ever year in the first week of July across India. Millions of trees are planted by citizens with enthusiasm. The Celebration of "Vanmohotsav" is an opportunity to exibit social responciblity in us towards safegarding trees and forest. Our students at MPS CBSE Poonam Nagar Mumbai Express their love for trees by taking part in a number of activities organize by the school, like "Each One Plant One", poster making and speech.  

Studenst of PYP4 from Shishuvan International School, Mumbai, India discussed about the effects of climate change and further made videos on their understanding as well.

Students of Std 4 did the research work and prepared E posters and PPT on Effects of Climate change.

For week 2, students revisited and reviewed their definition of climate change and a list of causes of climate change they learnt. I showed them work submitted by other students from different schools to understand climate change across the world. One being from UAE, where students from Delhi Private School (Sharjah) were working on saving the forest since they live in a desert. Their focus was to protect trees and find out more strategies to increase the green cover on the earth. Furthermore, students discussed the effects of climate change and wrote the answers to the prompts given in the 2nd week's activity and collated them on a padlet. They also explored the effects of climate change on our planet at local levels like floral, fauna, and then reviewed it by sharing their understanding on padlet. 

As a part of action for week 2, students were encouraged to plant trees, create a poster and prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the effects of climate change.

We have dicussed in our class about effects of climate change. We have also discussed how to control climate change. We have taken several steps to protect our environment.

My students studied the effects of climate change in their surrounding by comparing the data available for past decades. They even analysed and observed the changes that they could see in their immediate surroundings. They interviewed their parents and grandparents to find the weather in the past times.

We climate warriors here at Pathways School Noida, come together to make the planet a better place for our future generations. We, the citizens of the earth solemnly swear to protect this planet. 

Climate changes is a change in the pattern of weather, and related changes in oceans, land surfaces and ice sheets, occurring over time scales of decades or longer.

We saw what others had learnt , we examined causes of the climate change ... we developed deeper understanding and explored possible causes and impacts of human action on the environment...

climate change is expected to stunt plant growth. Declining plant growth would destroy forests and dramatically change the habitats that are necessary for many species to survive.

It is predicted that by the year 2050, if nothing is done, we could see 20–30% of the animal and plants species on Earth becoming extinct.

Climate change have lot of adverse effects on our planet. It has increased the CO2 levels, landslides, changes in precipitation pattern, desertification , flooding etc. Our students were engaged in different activities on effects of climate change like dance on climate change, song, poem recitation etc.

Continuing with the Climate Action Project at Sanjivani International School, Kharghar, students this time addressed on how to curb and control the electronic waste management.  Primary students  briefed about utilization of a maximum number of electronic devices which leads to huge quantities of electronic waste for disposal. E-waste includes large and small household appliances as computers, televisions, mobile devices, lighting device, electronic games, and even devices which measure metabolic rate. Students briefed about the hazardous nature of e-waste which is one of the rapidly rising environmental problems of the developing country as well as the developed country. Activities based on the same were conducted to take effective steps to control e waste.

Climate is the average weather or conditions in a place over a long period of time. The climate of a place takes millions of years to change. Different places can have different climates. For example- Climate in a desert is hot and dry while the climate in a rain forest is usually warm and humid. Generally, thirty years is the length of time used to determine an area's climate. Weather keeps changing, but climate does not change day to day or even month to month like weather does. Earth has witnessed many variations in climate since the beginning. A change in the average condition, such as temperature and rainfall in a region over a long period of time is called ‘climate change’. Example- A change in how much rain a place usually gets in a year. In simpler language, climate change is a change in the usual weather found in a place. Climate change is also a change in Earth's climate. There were times when earth’s climate was warmer that it is now. There can be a number of reasons for the earth’s climate to change. There are many natural and human- activities that contribute to climate change. Burning fossil fuels generates greenhouse gases that act like a blanket around the Earth, trapping the Sun’s heat and raising the temperatures of the earth. Some harmful greenhouse gases include Carbon Dioxide (CO2) and Methane (CH4). –Therefore, we should reduce the usage of such gases that can harm our planet. Human activities such as burning fuels to power factories, cars and buses are changing the natural greenhouse. In future, there are predictions that the Earth may become very warm. Already, some regions like Antarctica have started to become warmer than usual. This is because of Global Warming. Global Warming is the increase in the temperature near the earth’s surface. It has been observed over the past one or two centuries. This change has disturbed the climatic pattern of the earth. There are many causes of global warming, which have a negative effect on humans, plants and animals. These causes can be natural or the result of human-activities. Some of them include- deforestation, use of vehicles, industrial development, overpopulation, volcanic eruptions etc. We should prevent global warming as it can be very harmful.We should plant trees, carpool, walk or use a cycle for short distances and spread or convey news about global warming. These are a few steps we can take to prevent our planet earth.

Plant a tree ,Gift a sapling and nurture the plant

Students are doing a lot of activities,making presentations,comic strips,videos on effects of climate change.

Students explored about the impacts of climate change by inquiring their parents and grandparents. 

They also discussed their experiences regarding climate change and it's impacts. 

They feel concerned about various life forms.

Students were made familiar with the gardening activities and tools. They were shown some plants that the school has grown for food. 

Later they saw seeds of some seasonal vegetables. 

Students organised plantatition drive in their neighbourhood and participated in the community outreach programmes to spread the message of each one plant one.

The students of Navrachana Higher Secondary School, Sama enthusiatically engaged themselves into the week 2 activities. The students delved in into the effects of Climate Change by brainstorming on the causes. They involved themselves in broadening their understanding about the adverse effects of Climate Change and how they they can reduce the effects of it on the environment. The students created posters and videos to awaken people around them and inculcate a sense of responsibility towards the planet EARTH.

CLIMATE CHANGE PROJECT - 

Q1. How can I build on prior learning to connect to new ideas?

Earlier we defined climate change and what we think of it as a concept, the shared definition of climate change is something we can research and learn more about. Climate change is the change in average conditions such as temperature and rainfall in a region over a long period of time. I believe climate change to be the changes in the weather we observe from time to time. Causes of climate change ● Burning coal, oil and gas produces carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide. ● Cutting down forests (deforestation) ● Increasing livestock farming.

Q2. How is climate change affecting your local community? Effect on plants Increase in CO2 concentration due to climate change, changes the way plants photosynthesise. Effect on animals Climate change causes a few animals, birdlife, and endangered species to go extinct. Effect on weather patterns Weather events such as heatwaves and large storms might become more frequent due to climate change. Effect on human lifestyle Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health – clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.

Q3. How can accessing multiple perspectives provide a new direction for action?

It is important to look at topics from multiple perspectives so that we are able to see the whole picture, which better enables us to find the root cause of the problem and discover a solution that takes the needs and feelings of everyone involved into consideration. Climate change is an extensive problem and tackling it through different strategies can help us reach the broader goal in a much more efficient way.

  There are various effects of climate change like rising temperature, rising sea levels, unpredictable weather patterns, increase in extreme weather events, land degradation, loss of wildlife, and biodiversity.

A “TREE PLANTATION DRIVE” was organized in the school on 28th October 2021 by the students of Grade-5. The campaign's main aim was to direct students' minds in constructive activities with positive outcomes through the facilitation of contributing to society.

The child (Muskan) spoke about the real reasons and effects for the Climate Action.

As climate change worsens, dangerous weather events are becoming more frequent or severe. This means more storms, floods, cyclones, and droughts will take place over the next years. Rising maximum temperatures, rising minimum temperatures, rising sea levels, higher ocean temperatures, an increase in heavy rain, shrinking glaciers are the prevailing effects seen even today.

The learners collaborated and planned a zoom meet for age groups 11-13 and 14-16 to discuss the effects of climate change at a local and global level .They researched and shared their work on climate change in their Area and region.
The schools from Spain ,Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India were some of the countries that participated in the discussion .The learners also shared their understanding on a Padlet. They also pledged to be responsible citizens and move forward towards sustainable development .

Climate change does affect globally because scientist have found out that more than half of the climate change is from India and china. It is most likely that the climate change ns from these countries because they have the highest world population and if there are more people there will be need of more recourses

The Week 2 of Climate Action Project was all about the devastating effects of Climate Change. The students drew posters, came out with research on the way climate change has been very prevalent over the past few years in Bangalore and how it was creating Water shortages, somewhere it was all about Floods and then in other parts it is a depleting water level.

Our Research

We did a brainstorm session so as to know what students felt were the effects of climate change. We took them through a video clipping and had discussions on it. Each of them thought and researched to find out the effects and shared it in the padlet given to them as one of the task. 

RBKIA Students took up the activity of planting/watering trees and tending to their gardens. They also segregated waste at their homes and disposed it off properly. As per the lesson plans some of our students conducted intergenerational interviews with their Grandparents and older relatives which were very successful and we all enjoyed them. Our school also organized a Spin the Wheel competition where students apoke about climate action and other SGD's. Our older students conducted workshop for younger students and explained the importance of climate change to them. A couple of our students raised awareness about saving Mangroves of Mumbai

In week 2 How can you build on prior learning to connect to new ideas?How is climate change impacting the local community?How can accessing multiple perspectives provide new direction for action?We focused on these questions.Children had the option of selecting any two places from the regions of India.They found these following results for the cities they had chosen.

•Global warming is one of the biggest problem the world is facing.

•Temperature continues to rise year after year causing sea level rise which could cause major flooding of our town and cities.

•Taking example of city of Kochi of Kerala state, India.

•The climate change was marked by increasing global air and ocean temperature, rising global mean sea level and reductions in snow and ice.

•Sea level rise would result in coastal flooding, contamination of drinking water with sea water, increased impact of storm and risk of coastal erosion

•Sea level rise is a major concern and in future it would become common.

•Kochi would not be able to drain its flood water into the sea once the sea level rises.

•Keeping all this in mind the citizen have to act accordingly to eliminate the global warming.

Effects of Climate Change & Fresh minds, different ways of growing trees.

Our students from grade 7 and 8 have prepared the poster in order to spread the awareness among the people living in our society. So, that we can take small initiatives to control the pollution and help our area to be pollution free by saving the trees.

In this poster presentation,  our students have taken different aspects which effects our climate.

Students of Symbiosis have been collaborating on the the various effects  of climate change on the different components within Maharashtra in India. As Pune is situated in the state of Maharashtra. Students are working on identifying the effects of Climate change in Maharashtra. We have created a padlet which will show the continuum of the entire reserach work done by grade 4 a students throughout the six week long climate action project. In this week we focussed on effects of climate change on animals. Our students prepared posters and gave a short presentation.

Students do plantation of sapling and then care them 

My self Nishu Joshi from S.T.S World School. In our school we had already done the tree plantation time to time. But for climate change  all sections of Grade-II done the project of Tree plantation with the help of our Co-ordinator mam Ms. Raminder and with other colleagues. The students planted many trees around them and in the school and took a pledge to protect and nurture them. I hope it will be the great experience for us. Thanku for giving us great platform for explore ourselves. 

The teacher would explain that the energy resources available to the countries for the year 2021-22 have already been used by the month of July. Earth Overshoot Day was 29th July, 2021. 

To conserve energy and contribute positively towards the climate change, let’s celebrate the Earth hour week. (18th October to 24th October)

Activity- Intergenerational Interview 

The students would interview their grandparents to know the conditions of environment, animals, plants and human health during their time i.e. 30-40 years ago.

Humans and wild animals face new challenges for survival because of climate change. More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities.

Climate change refers to the change in the environmental conditions of the earth. This happens due to many internal and external factors. The climatic change has become a global concern over the last few decades. Besides, these climatic changes affect life on the earth in various ways. These climatic changes are having various impacts on the ecosystem and ecology. Due to these changes, a number of species of plants and animals have gone extinct.These climatic changes have a negative impact on the environment. The ocean level is rising, glaciers are melting, CO2 in the air is increasing, forest and wildlife are declining, and water life is also getting disturbed due to climatic changes. Apart from that, it is calculated that if this change keeps on going then many species of plants and animals will get extinct. And there will be a heavy loss to the environment.

Students read different news articles to understand the impacts of climate change.  They connected their information using solo hexagons and identified the possible solutions.

Our students have done research on the effects of climate change in their locality . Madurai has a tropical climate, although it borders closely upon hot semi-arid climate.

Madurai is one of the major city in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. Madurai has been a major settlement for two millenia. It is often referred to as "Thoonga Nagaram", meaning " the city which never sleeps".

A study based on the available data indicates rising trends in atmospheric temperature over Madurai city attributed to rapid urbanization, industrialization and deforestation.

Our UKG children reflected their understanding on ‘Causes and Effects of climate change’ through art and craft activities using different materials. They also exchanged their thoughts with their peers during the live session.

Effects of Climate change on weather:

Rising global average temperature is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns. Scientific studies indicate that extreme weather events such as heat waves and large storms are likely to become more frequent or more intense with human-induced climate change.

Effects of Climate change on Plants:

Climate change can affect agriculture in a variety of ways. Beyond a certain range of temperatures, warming tends to reduce yields because crops speed through their develop- ment, producing less grain in the process. And higher tem- peratures also interfere with the ability of plants to get and use moisture.

Effects of Climate change on Agriculture:

Agriculture is extremely vulnerable to climate change. Higher temperatures eventually reduce yields of desirable crops while encouraging weed and pest proliferation. Pests management become less effective, meaning that higher rates of pesticides will be necessary to achieve the same levels of control.

Effects of Climate change on Health:

Climate change increases the risk of illness through increasing temperature, more frequent heavy rains and runoff, and the effects of storms. Health impacts may include gastrointestinal illness like diarrhea, effects on the body’s nervous and respiratory systems, or liver and kidney damage

Effects of Climate change on Environment:

Climate change may aggravate erosion, decline in organic matter, salinization, soil biodiversity loss, landslides, desertification and flooding. The effect of climate change on soil carbon storage can be related to changing atmospheric CO2 concentrations, increased temperatures and changing precipitation patterns.

Global warming:

Global warming, the gradual heating of Earth’s surface, oceans and atmosphere, is caused by human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels that pump carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. …

Drought:

Drought is a prolonged dry period in the natural climate cycle that can occur anywhere in the. world. It is a slow-onset disaster characterized by the lack of precipitation, resulting in a water. shortage. Drought can have a serious impact on health, agriculture, economies, energy.

Melting glacier:

Melting Glaciers. A glacier is a big chunk of ice that is created from falling and accumulated snow over a period of time. ... Due to heat changes, especially to relatively high temperatures, the Glacier melting occurs – a process where the ice changes from solid to liquid or water.

Sea level increase:

As the rising ocean erodes the shoreline and floods the areas in which coastal animals live, animals like shorebirds and sea turtles will suffer. Their delicate nests may be swept away by flooding, an especially big problem for endangered animals like sea turtles that can’t afford to lose any offspring.

Wild fire:

Rising global average temperature is associated with widespread changes in weather patterns. Scientific studies indicate that extreme weather events such as heat waves and large storms are likely to become more frequent or more intense with human-induced climate change.

Effects of Climate change on Plants:

Climate change can affect agriculture in a variety of ways. Beyond a certain range of temperatures, warming tends to reduce yields because crops speed through their develop- ment, producing less grain in the process. And higher tem- peratures also interfere with the ability of plants to get and use moisture.

Effects of Climate change on Agriculture:

Agriculture is extremely vulnerable to climate change. Higher temperatures eventually reduce yields of desirable crops while encouraging weed and pest proliferation. Students were asked to interview family members, friends and relatives etc. They prepared questions that prompted conversation around climate change effects at local levels in terms of (1) plants, (2) animals, (3) weather patterns, and (4) human activity. Once students completed interviews, they shared it to the classroom by presenting their findings.

In Week no. 2 our climate enthusiasts have worked in following ways:

1. Researched the various effects of climate change locally and globally

2. Prepared craft items integrating cartoon characters and effects on climate change

4. prepared a role play on various effects

5. Developed a website to portray the effect of climate change across different continents

The out of the box thinking and natural curiosity of children never ceases to amaze me and I absolutely love being a part of their journey of exploration. Also  I demonstrated some impacts of climate and shared it with my students. They painted a lot of pictures during the councours at the school. We have dicussed of  what are the least things that we can do to show our support to Climate Change. The effects are quite gruesome. So my kids decided they would like to start a "recycling campaign" They will try to persuade their family members, neighbours and friends to follow their footsteps. 

Warmer temperatures over time are changing weather patterns and disrupting the usual balance of nature. This poses many risks to human beings and all other forms of life on Earth.

Hotter temperatures

Nearly all land areas are seeing more hot days and heat waves; 2020 was one of the hottest years on record. Higher temperatures increase heat-related illnesses and can make it more difficult to work and move around. Wildfires start more easily and spread more rapidly when conditions are hotter.

More severe storms

Changes in temperature cause changes in rainfall. This results in more severe and frequent storms. They cause flooding and landslides, destroying homes and communities, and costing billions of pounds
Increased drought

Water is becoming scarcer in more regions. Droughts can stir destructive sand and dust storms that can move billions of tons of sand across continents. Deserts are expanding, reducing land for growing food. Many people now face the threat of not having enough water on a regular basis.

For week 2, group 2 students researched about the effects of climate change in Malaysia and around the world. They have also planted a tree and took a video of their project in the hopes that it will inspire more people to plant trees. However, during the presentation, they've discovered that trees are not the main living organism that converts carbon dioxide to oxygen. In fact, plankton is the main living organism that contributes a big percentage of oxygen in our atmosphere. These creatures are part of marine creatures. Hence, they have also mentioned that curbing the water pollution problem would be even more crucial to preserve these planktons in order to combat climate change.

This week, we invited the district president of TEMA, one of the biggest organizations related to climate and environment in Turkey, to the school. He brought us presentations on climate change and all of our classes were enrolled in this organization in order to be more sensitive to the environment as a school. We are now both environmentally friendly and one of the zero waste classes. We will take part in all tree planting activities of the organization. Thanks to this project, we said that we, as the whole school, are here for the environment and our world. My Padlet link and the work I have done in the video are available. As a school, we raised awareness by shouting slogans at school with our banners.

Scenes of flooding and storms show us just how much weather and climate can affect our lives.

Climate affects nearly every aspect of our lives, from our food sources to our transport infrastructure, from what clothes we wear, to where we go on holiday. It has a huge effect on our livelihoods, our health, and our future.

Climate is the long-term pattern of weather conditions in any particular place. 

We know that our climate is changing due to humans, and these changes are already having a big impact on our lives.

It’s important that we understand how the climate is changing, so that we can prepare for the future. 

Studying the climate helps us predict how much rain the next winter might bring, or how far sea levels will rise due to warmer sea temperatures. 

We can also see which regions are most likely to be affected by extreme weather, or which wildlife species are threatened by climate change. 

What is the climate?

Climate is the long-term pattern of weather experienced in a place. 

Weather, on the other hand, describes day-to-day changes in our atmosphere. 

You can check the weather by simply looking out the window. But you need a longer term set of observations to understand the climate.

We describe the climate by looking at temperature, rainfall, snow and wind data. This is usually averaged over seasons, years, decades, centuries or more.

If you looked at the average rainfall records for Manchester over the last thirty years, it would help to describe the climate for the area.

It’s always handy to pack an umbrella in England, as the climate makes rain very common

Climate is influenced by things like location, whether there are mountains nearby, whether there is water nearby, and how high up it is. 

For example, one of the reasons Carlisle has a colder, wetter climate than London because it is further away from the equator. Another reason is that it is closer to mountains, and mountains often encourage rainfall.

Climate is also affected by our atmosphere, a layer of gases that surrounds the earth.  

These gases act like a blanket wrapped around the earth, trapping the sun’s heat within our atmosphere.

Some gases trap more heat than others. The gases that trap the most heat are called greenhouse gases because they allow heat to reach the earth, but do not let it escape – similar to how a greenhouse works. 

The most common greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane and ozone, water vapour, nitrous oxides and fluorinated gases.

The more greenhouse gases there are, the warmer the earth’s climate becomes. 

This means that human activities which release greenhouse gases, like burning fossil fuels, lead to climate change.

We talked about the effects of climate change and completed our awareness activities.

In our second week of Climate Action, we showed our students a movie about climate change. They made pictures and presentations about climate change. We participated in the school's entire global tree planting.

EFFECTS OF CLIMATE CHANGE

We had webinar with experts from the UK on climate change, how to slow or stop it.

This is the presentation of students in class 11B5 and 11B6 at Vietnam Australia International School about "Effects of Climate Change"

Greeting everyone! Welcome back to our group's Climate Action Project. Hope you gain knowledge from our CAP Week 2's presentation.

Students had a discussion about effects of Climate Change locally. We listed out the effects and thought about the ways to need to do next 

We can do this. Together we can save our live. The change of the climate will be interrupted. 

Week two mainly consisted of continuing work on the assignments from week 1, including an animation film about the climate experts. Add causes and effects to the longest list.

The students from the school have been working together with the environmental non-governmental organization Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation for 5 years. As our trusted climate experts, we invited them to an online meeting where we learned about the effects of climate change on plants and lives.

Students followed the questions and researched in 4 areas of climate change in the local community, talked to their parents and created a video. They also designed a sticker that they glued to the buckets at school, thus raising awareness of the changes that could happen in our favor, thus saving the planet and our lives. In the end, one student came out with a quiz in Padlet, in order to repeat what was researched and learned.

Some of effects are: storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, moore flouding.

The consequences of climate change are droughts, melting ice, floods, rising sea levels, high temperatures.

Global warming has the greatest impact on the climate. Heating raises sea levels and destroys flora and fauna that live by the sea. Water heating affects the death of plant and animal species that make the water too hot. Dead animals release methane during decomposition. By melting glaciers, living space for many plants and animals is disappearing. Increasing greenhouse gases lead to global warming and climate change. Deforestation in addition to destroying biodiversity affects the extinction of many plant and animal species and reduced oxygen emissions. 

When e-waste is exposed to the heat, toxic chemicals are released into the air damaging the atmosphere; this is one of the biggest environmental impacts of e-waste. Those toxic materials can then seep into the groundwater, affecting both land and sea animals. Electronic waste can also contribute to air pollution. How much does e-waste contribute to climate change? What can we do in collaboration with other schools and countries?

We have been studying the effects of Climate Change in Rome and Europe with focus on how animals, plants, people and weather suffer. After researching and discussing we determined that the 4 most critical effects are: ice caps melting, rising temperatures, increased severe weather and animals being endangered. We created posters and are preparing a video.

Students were searching about the effects of climate change

Together with students, we talked about climate change and its consequences. The students highlighted them on colored sheets, created a beautiful cloud of words, and placed them in our classroom. 

During the second week of the project, we worked on the topic Effects of Climate Change. We used Word Art to write the effects. Students prepared presentations and posters in Canva and PowerPoint. They wrote and drew about climate change.  We used Linoit to write the effects and discussed them.

During the second week of the project, students researched the issue online and after a brief discussion about the validity of the sources and whether everything “out there” should be taken for granted they elaborated on the effects of climate change and ways to prevent it. Since we did this in the English class, they practiced the relevant vocabulary. Then they prepared written notes with slogans and messages covering environmental issues. Then they formulated questions to compose a survey and find out how other students in our school feel about climate changes.

Students on the Internet saw the effects of climate change on the continents and discussed and made drawings.

During the second week of the project, students discussed the effects of climate change. Using the WordArt tool, they created various images in which they recorded the effects of climate change.

At today's event we scheduled at Microsoft Teams, we had an hour-long socializing where we all asked ourselves the following questions:
-What are climate change?
- How does climate change affect my local community?
- How access to multiple perspectives can provide a new direction for
action?

The students were introduced to the free EarthProject app (EarthProject App) which will enable students aged 13+ to learn more about climate change, its direct impact and how each of them can contribute to a mission to reduce it.

The students watched one of the videos offered (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jS0ZIUtsQHg) on ​​the impact of climate change in Europe. The video discusses that climate change is already having a major impact on ecosystems, the economy and the health and well-being of people in Europe. New records continue to be set for global and European temperatures, sea levels and reduced Arctic sea ice. Rainfall patterns are changing, generally making wet regions in Europe wetter and drier regions drier. The volume of the glacier and the snow cover are decreasing. At the same time, climate-related extremes, such as heat waves, heavy rainfall, and droughts, are increasing in frequency and intensity in many regions. Improved climate projections provide further evidence that climate-related extremes will increase in many European regions.

Once the discussion was over, we went to https://www.footprintcalculator.org/en/quiz/0/food/category where we measured our impact on the environment. The results were astonishing, ie if every inhabitant of the planet earth would live like us (we were all one person in this environmental calculator), then we would need 4.5 planets to live well without endangering biodiversity. A great lesson has been learned from this that everyone must make their own change for the better in order to leave the best possible impression on the planet earth.

At the end of this meeting we agreed on an exercise-research: Explore the effects of climate change on our planet locally.

Each of the students was given the task to do a local survey on one of the points in their environment. They were also given the opportunity to interview local business owners to see if they were changing their business models and planning to adapt to the effects of climate change.

The students researched from the proposed materials, the effects of climate change. They made a poster, which is in the hallway of the primary classes. The students watched movies, from which they deduced the effects locally. It is important that they talked to their parents about the effects of climate change at the local level. The effects that were said by the students were: Melting glaciers, difficult survival of plants, their disappearance, difficult survival of animals, production of tornadoes, floods, destructive storms, increasing the number of sick people.

Pupils of our school identified the causes and their effects on our theme climate changes. Also we Plant trees in our school Yard.

The effects of climate change are: winters are without snow, in spring when the plants turn green the snow falls. Summers are dry.

In the second week, students analyzed the effects of climate change locally. They watched videos from other teams to deduce the effects of climate change around the globe. They determined whether they showed in the video and ppt the local effects on flowers, fauna, weather patterns and human activity. They differentiated between cause and effect by solving interactive exercises. To save the planet, we joined the #plantED action (global tree planting)

Students from our lyceum discussed the effects of Climate Change in the world and in Moldova, we saw the amazing presentations made by students all over the world and shared our impressions about them , also we had online lesson with partners from Spain. 

Students did research on effects of climate change in different parts of the world, for a global perspective on this. No good effects anywhere.

What are the effects of climate change?

The effects of global warming are the consequences of the harmful activity of humanity on the entire globe, which leads to changes in all components of the environment: flora, fauna, soil, water.

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to the environment, the social and economic environment. Observations indicate increases in global average water and ocean temperatures, widespread melting of snow and ice, and average global sea level rise. It is very likely that, for the most part, heating could be attributed to greenhouse gas emissions from human activities.

The impacts of climate change have already been observed and are expected to become more pronounced. Extreme climatic events, including heat waves, droughts and floods, are expected to become more frequent and intense. In Europe, the largest temperature rises occur in southern Europe and the Arctic region. Rainfall decreases in southern Europe and increases in the north / northwest. This has impacts on natural ecosystems, human health and water resources. Economic sectors such as forestry, agriculture, tourism and construction will largely suffer harmful consequences. The agricultural sector in northern Europe can benefit from a limited increase in temperature.

This week we watched educational videos on YouTube about the importance of stopping global warming and we decided to plant trees on our school grounds. The tutor, with the help of her parents, contacted the forester and we will get the trees for free.

Together with two classes (4b and 7a), we planted 6 trees in our school: 2 viburnums, 2 oaks and 2 spruces. From that moment on, we make sure that they are watered and that nothing happens to them.

We have compiled a list of the effects of climate change.

During the second week, we made a long list of the effects of climate change in our city and country. Moreover, students checked how increasing the concentration of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere affects the acidification of water. They compared the pH of water with dissolved greenhouse gases and distilled water using acid-base indicators. They have used methyl orange, universal indicator paper, litmus and decoction of red cabbage.

We've decided to organise the posters' competitions among high school and secondary school students. We've decided to organise the flashmob to attract attention to the climate change. We'll create presentations in Polish and English languages which help us to familiarize students of different ages with the problem of Global warming and climate change. We'll also interview PhD Geography teacher to understand the circle of problems which the climate change could lead to. We'll inform about our activities regularly.

The students prepared presentation, made videos, took pictures and did some research. They had also nice discussions about climate change.

This video is the result of several videos created by 11th-grade students after a conference heard at school by the head of a local environmental organization. (Cooperativa Bem da Terra)

Our students, in groups, searched the effects of climate change and then made a presentation. They also gathered many photos related to the topic and interviewed some relatives about weatheer patterns.

The students were asked to find evidence of climate change all around the planet and post an image in a collaborative tool (Wakelet), describe the problem, think about the causes and the impact of such a problem.

Todos ainda nos lembramos dos incêndios de junho e outubro de 2017 que devastaram o centro do país. Com uma área ardida superior a 440 mil hectares, 2017 foi um dos anos mais negros de que há memória dos incêndios em Portugal. E é precisamente para evitar que situações e de voltem a acontecer que é necessário investir na proteção da floresta autóctone portuguesa.

We researched individually the effects of climate change in Paços de Ferreira, then we discussed in the class all the effects. We also made a plan off an interview about this subject and we filmed the generational interview as the final task of the Week 2.

We are gathering, for the second year, more and more students to participate on the Climate Action Project. This year, and since we are beginning an eTwinning project called "Green Inclusion", we are also integrating students with special needs. Also, as we've just been approved with a small scale Erasmus+ project about the environment, why not bringing it all together?

We aim to raise awareness about the real problem of Climate Change and make the students, with small actions, make the difference.

So, we'll continue our greenhouse improvement, have workshops with a biologist about topics such as how to create a forest, aromatic plants and their uses, composing and permaculture.

By the end of the project we aim to have a nice vegetables, fruits and aromatic plants garden and have, at least, three composing containers at school and in places around our school.

This week, students started buidilg the aromatic garden with tiles taken from our old school roof.

Also they discussed and made research on the effects of Climate Changes in various fields.

These students group created a podcast on the effects of climate change, based on interviews conducted with family members about the differences they notice since they were children until today.

Urmărind materialul video "Schimbări climatice majore-cauze și efecte", elevii au descoperit tipuri de poluări (ale aerului, apei, solului) și care sunt cauzele acestora. Apoi, elevii au evidențiat prin desen, efectele poluării asupra lumii și diferite tipuri de poluare.

Elevii au discutat despre efectele schimbarilor climatice, cautand pe internet imagini sugestive si articole referitoare la acestea. Si-au exprimat sentimentele fata de cei care sufera cel mai mult de pe urma acestor schimbari si au adus exemple de efecte intalnite chiar de ei.

A víz nem csak az életünk alapfeltétele, szerepe nagyon tág, mível a környezetünkre is hatással van, ökoszisztémájának mi is részesei vagyunk, táplálék forrás, életteret teremt és fontos szerepet játszik a modern életünkben is.

Am prezentat elevilor, cu ajutorul video-proiectorului, un material cu efectele schimbărilor climatice. Dintre efecte au identificat: creșterea nivelului apelor, fenomene meteorologice extreme, acidifierea oceanelor, pericolul extincției totale, secetă, topirea ghețarilor, incendii, mai puțin oxigen, mai puțină hrană, victime umane, etc.

Le-am cerut ca împreună cu familia la primăvară fiecare să planteze un copac, acum fiind toamnă nu este anotimp prielnic.
