My students WebPage What is Climate Change

Hello Fellow educators and students

I am a computer programmer and I am teaching my students how to create WebPages using HTML and CSS; so I decided to incorporate the Climate Change project into our curriculum.

Yesterday we spoke about climate change and my students decided to create a WebPage

Their requirements were simple

They had to use their existing knowledge of HTML and CSS.

They had to have pictures, one of which must denote our Institution, and they must include the hyperlinks from the PDF document that I had emailed to them.

This is one of the Websites that was hosted on a free web hosting site.

They say that competition is healthy, well I created a little competition between the girls and the guys.

This morning I posted the website that the girls( Fahima and Nqobile) in my programming class had created.

By the afternoon the Guys had submitted their website. So here IT is. Well done to the guys

Climate Change Website

Initially interest was somewhat dismal, and then last week Durban experienced a very unusual storm, roads were flooded, public transport was disrupted and examinations had to be postponed because students were unable to come to campus. Five people lost their lives due directly to storm activity. This now sparked discussions in class, and interest peaked. IT students had decided to design and create a website. Students video recorded themselves as they presented to fellow students

  1. What they thought was climate change and
  2. how weather patterns have changed
  3. Simple actions that they could implement to minimize climate change.
